The Taste of Summer Isn’t Just a Flavour—It’s a Feeling

Certain things instantly tell you summer has arrived in cottage country.
The sound of loons echoing across the lake.
A dock warming up in the afternoon sun.

The smell of cedar after a rainstorm.
The first jump into water that’s still just a little too cold.
For us, there’s another one.
The unmistakable psssht of opening a cold bottle of kombucha after a day spent outside.
Summer has a way of reminding us that the best moments rarely happen on a schedule. They’re the conversations that last longer than expected around a campfire. The paddle that turns into watching the sunset. The impromptu stop at a roadside market because the strawberries looked too good to pass up.
Life feels a little less rushed.
That’s something we try to capture every time we brew a batch of Nectr Kombucha.
Our brewery sits right here in Haliburton County, surrounded by the lakes, forests, and communities that inspire what we do. Every bottle is brewed slowly, using real ingredients, because we believe good things aren’t meant to be rushed.
Summer is also the season when we meet so many new people. Some discover us while exploring local cafés; others pick up a bottle at a farmers’ market or a grocery store on the way to the cottage. Many tell us the same thing:
“I wasn’t expecting kombucha to taste like this.”
We love hearing that.
Because kombucha doesn’t have to be intimidating. It doesn’t have to taste like vinegar. It should be refreshing, balanced, and something you’d genuinely reach for after mowing the lawn, finishing a hike, spending the afternoon on the boat, or simply sitting on the dock with family.

Maybe that’s why cottage country and kombucha fit together so naturally.
Both encourage us to slow down.
To appreciate what’s local.
To spend a little more time outdoors.
To gather around the table.
To savour simple moments.
As summer rolls on, we hope you find plenty of those moments—whether you’re visiting Haliburton County for a weekend, spending the season at the lake, or simply enjoying your own backyard.
If one of those moments happens to include a bottle of Nectr, we’re honoured to be part of it.
Here’s to sunny days, cool lakes, good company, and making the most of another Ontario summer.
We’ll see you at the cottage.
